I am grateful...

Just a short post to say how grateful I am for my wife who works so hard with the boys, for my boys who are the best little guys a dad could have. For my God who is the life source to all I am and have.

May God bless you all!

A picture is worth a thousand words...

Upon thinking about the opening statement I had to but stop myself in my tracks and question whether it was entirely true? Is a picture really worth a thousand words?

If I were to look at all the panoramic shots ever taken of Gods wonderful creation could I express in words what they mean to me? I believe I could; the things I could describe, the colour, the type of plants, animals, mountains, and sunsets etc.

But what of a picture of a child from a third world country; dressed in rags, ribs showing, and perhaps tears running down their cheeks from hunger? Could I describe in words what I see? Yes, I think I could; the life they live, what they do to survive, and the environment they live in.

But really the question is, "when is a picture worth a thousand words?"

The answer I believe is; when we become absorbed and affected by what we see that it moves us both physically and emotionally in our responses.

We see the sunset and a smile is etched upon our faces, we close our eyes and feel the last rays of warmth before the lowering sun disappears beyond the horizon. This is so amazing!

We see the child crying in hunger, our hands come to our mouths in shock, tears begin to well up in our eyes as our compassion for them burns like a raging fire. What can be done?

My point is this; everyday God presents us with life pictures to see what our words will be. Will they simply be a short note or will they be a deep impression which will affect us and those around us?

Proverbs 25:11 says: A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

So next time a picture is presented whether for better or for worse take a moment to absorb the effects and turn it into a thousand words.

Laughing matter...

Laughter is best medicine? I have laughed so hard that it hurt my stomach, my cheeks, and made me cry... Now who said laughing was best medicine? It is also said to bring relief, reduces stress, and releases tension. Even if you squirt milk out through your nostrils and gag on some other slimy thing running down the back of your throat at the same time. If someone starts laughing at you then join in, why should they have all the fun! Laughter breaks the barriers, if you feel like a stranger in the group crack a funny, you'll sure learn quickly how to laugh at your own jokes...

Now why have I said all this?

Proverbs 17:22 (KJV)
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Same scripture (GNB)

Proverbs 17:22
Being cheerful keeps you healthy. It is slow death to be gloomy all the time.

As the old saying goes, "smile a while and give your face a rest"
